Diaries of a Mission Developer

Hola! I am Pastora Melissa Melnick and here is part of my story:

I am a new pastor and we are starting a new community of faith called “Tapestry” in Richfield, Minnesota. We worship mostly in English, but we have lots of sabor latino! We include Spanish in parts of our worship time. We sing in English and Spanish. We are people from different parts of the United States, Mexico, Columbia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua. We also eat together because it is often around the table that we have our best conversations and where we begin to build a family of Christ.

I graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and I was ordained as a Pastor/Mission Developer through the Minneapolis Area Synod of the ELCA. Prior to being a pastor, I was a Spanish and English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher around the Minneapolis area. I have friends from around the world and I want to be a part of a community of faith with people from all parts of the world.

I have two sons, one who is a sophomore at the University of Minnesota and another who will be graduating from high school in June and then spending much of the next year traveling.

Welcome to this site. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and questions! Pastora Melissa
